:In 1984, he joined M/s Greaves Cotton & Co. Ltd. as a sales engineer. He was involved in the sale of worm and helical gearboxes, hydraulic couplings, cranes and hoists. In 1987, he joined M/s Shanti Gears Ltd. as a Regional Manager looking after the Northern, Eastern and Western regions. M/s Shanti Gears was a small company then. It has established the name and product of the company in the region, achieving good sales. Between 1990 and 1994, he was engaged in his trading and marketing business.
In 1994, S.G Gears started with an ambition to develop an in-house all gear cutting facility. S.G Gears focused on the design and manufacture of custom gearboxes. During 1994-96, various types of worm gearboxes such as those with hollow input shaft, hollow output shaft, screw jacks, worm gearboxes for tank rotators and welding SPMS, gearboxes for crane service etc. We have manufactured Long Haul and Cross Haul Crane Service Gearboxes for Bokaro Steel Plant through Kirloskar Pneumatic Company. Ltd., Tisco, Larsen and Tubro Ltd. We also carried out on-site steel plant roller table gearbox assembly, these gearboxes weighed 6 tonnes and were 6 meters long. S.G Gears went through the recession of 1996-1997 and never looked back.
For delivering custom gearboxes, we have maintained an advanced design and manufacturing unit. During our initial years in the industry, we dealt in hollow input and output shafts, screw jacks, helical gearboxes for tank rotators and helical gearboxes for SPMS welding, gearboxes for crane service, and many other products. In addition, we are primarily engaged in manufacturing gearboxes for long haul and traverse crane service for Bokaro Steel Plant through Kirloskar Pneumatic Company Limited, TISCO and Larsen & Toubro Limited.
