all spring designs are designed on an advance cad program. State of the art design programs are crucial when designing linear and progressive rate springs to ensure laden and unladen spring rates are correct to provide the best possible ride comfort and handling.
material
x5k is a new generation high strength spring steel which with-stands higher operating stresses and has superior resistance to sag, improved toughness and improved corrosion fatigue properties.
heat treatment
heat treatment is one of the most important steps in the coil spring manufacturing process.
dr. Nano 4wd coil springs are ‘hot wound’ whilst the bar is still at over 950°c and the hardening and tempering of our coil springs is completed by an extremely precise electronically controlled furnace to eliminate breakage and sagging.
hardening and tempering
after the coil bar is rolled it is then placed quenched in oil whilst still at 850°c and hardened to 62 hrc. After the hardening process the coil is then placed into the tempering oven and heated back up to 400°c . Coil will be now tempered to a 54 hrc.
finishing
wounded coil is now dipped with a phosphate coating for maximum corrosion protection. A durable epoxy powdercoat finish provides extreme protection against the elements.
