:In 2001, Minda Bal Gram was incorporated by Shri S. L. Minda. It is licensed with the Department of Women and Child, Government of NCT of Delhi. Minda Bal Gram (MBG) provides long-term institutional care to the children in need of care and protection. It provides holistic development opportunities to such children that include shelter, food, clothing, education, vocational training, life-skills, personality development, health-care, recreation and entertainment. The attempt is to provide family like environment under institutional care so that physical, mental, spiritual and educational needs are fulfilled for the overall development of children.
MBG provides supports and financial assistance to children wishing to pursue academics or other training/skill. Scholarships and sponsorships are awarded for higher education or training by the Moga Devi Minda Charitable Trust, Delhi. We believe that education is essential and higher academic education should be given to children who want and have been able to score good grades consistently.
In a span of more than a decade Minda Bal Gram has served hundreds of children. It has restored more than 50% of its children either to their families or rehabilitated them safely into society. Mainly, children in “need of care and protection” come to Minda Bal Gram through a statutory body called the Child Welfare Committee (Bench of Magistrates) constituted under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2000. It is the endeavour of Minda Bal Gram to provide school education to all its children. Children are given an opportunity to attend English Medium schools. A number of children are attending Pratibha Schools – especially designed by the Department of Education, Government of NCT of Delhi to nurture talented students. In order to make children employable several students are receiving training in the courses offered by the Industrial Training Institutes under the Directorate of Training and Technical Education, Government of NCT of Delhi.
