Bonfiglioli Riduttori was founded on April 16, 1956 to put into practice the business ideas of Clementino Bonfiglioli, who brought to his new company years of experience in the design and manufacture of gearboxes for agricultural machinery and motorcycles (Ducati, Gilera including famous names like ) and Moto Morini). The new company was named Costruzioni Meccanche Bonfiglioli and for the first few years of its existence it focused on the production of gearboxes for two familiar sectors of agricultural machinery and motorcycles, which were important industries in the Bolognese industrial scene at the time.
